Shelly Ralph

Care Home Manager

Shelly is a Registered Nurse who qualified in 2011 and holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults’ Advanced Practice). With extensive experience across both the NHS and the social care sector, her expertise lies in rehabilitation, step-up/step-down nursing, and managing large care homes supporting residents with complex health needs.

Shelly joined Cartmel Grange as Registered Manager in 2024, having previously led one of our sister homes in Appleby since 2021. Today, she oversees Cartmel Grange’s 73-bedroom nursing home across three floors. Exceptionally passionate about elderly care and dementia support, Shelly is known for her approachable nature, strong organisational skills, and proactive “get the job done” attitude. She takes pride in offering a welcoming environment for residents and families, alongside a compassionate listening ear for staff and visitors alike.

Dana Sirghie

Deputy Manager

Dana is a Registered General Nurse, working at Cartmel Grange since 2014. Previously a Unit Manager on our Dementia unit. Her role is to ensure that the quality standards are adhered to by way of Audits, including Medication. Ensures the fulfilment of Falls Tracker, Dependency Tool, Restrictive Measures, DOLs and Safeguarding.

Dana completes residents’ Pre-Admission Assessments. Meeting with GPs, Local Authorities, Social Workers, CQC and other Professionals.
Overseeing that the units are supervised and managed well. Carrying out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision, and will be required to demonstrate skills and supervise both qualified and unqualified staff. Giving support to nurses during any unit incidents.

Dana is responsible for the care home during Shelly’s absence.

Sue Scholey

Head of Care

With over 30 years of experience in the care sector, Sue specialises in older adult care and dementia support. Drawing on her extensive background, she provides comprehensive guidance to our care team to ensure continuity and excellence in our residents’ daily routines.

Sue oversees every aspect of resident well-being and offers compassionate support to families throughout their journey with us, from initial admission through to end-of-life care. Alongside completing rigorous care audits and managing shift rotas to ensure optimal staffing levels on every floor, Sue assists our training coordinator with manual handling and staff supervisions. A skilled communicator and dedicated team player, she actively shares her knowledge with colleagues to continually elevate our person-centred, dignifying approach to care.
